Patients don’t plan to go to A&E.
They arrive unscheduled, often distressed, and with a phone that’s already running low. A wait of two, three, four hours without power isn’t just uncomfortable — it has real consequences for patients, families, and the clinical team.
- Nurses and reception staff are repeatedly interrupted by charger requests that can’t be formally resolved
- Patients using personal chargers in clinical sockets creates an IPC and electrical safety risk
- Patients arrive for triage already anxious — battery anxiety compounds what they’re already experiencing
Joos resolves each of these
Charger requests stop reaching staff

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if the unit needs servicing?
Joos monitors usage and replenishment remotely and proactively via a 3G/4G cellular networked connection. If a unit needs attention, we schedule a visit in line with our SLA — you don’t need to report it.
How long does installation take?
Installation is typically completed in under an hour by a Joos technician. It requires a single standard power socket. There is no structural work, no IT integration, and no disruption to clinical operations.
Can the unit be branded for our Trust?
Yes. Units can carry your Trust’s branding alongside Joos livery. This is something we confirm during the site assessment process.
What if patients don’t return the power banks?
Non-returns are managed by Joos — a small charge is applied to the patient’s card after the rental period. The Trust is not liable for losses. The network average return rate is 95%.
Is this IPC-compliant for a clinical environment?
Yes. Power banks are cleaned and inspected before every refill cycle. The unit surfaces are smooth, non-porous, and designed for regular wiping with standard clinical cleaning products. We can provide the full IPC specification on request.
Will this create extra work for our staff?
None. Joos manages installation, all replenishment, maintenance, billing and customer support. Your team’s only involvement is agreeing the placement location during the site assessment. Everything after that is handled entirely by Joos.
Is there any cost to the Trust?
Our most popular commercial model adds incremental revenue for your business. No setup fee or ongoing charge – Users pay.
A secondary option is a venue-funded model that provides free charging to users – commercial arrangements are tailored to your business.
