How To Rent

How To Return
Press the grey button, put the power bank into the slot with the flashing light, then ensure it's locked in the slot.
Pre-Authorisation
Hold Explained
Using our card machine instead of the QR code? Here's exactly what happens with your payment.
A temporary hold is placed
When you tap your card, a pre-authorisation is applied as a security measure; it's not a charge. It simply holds funds as a precaution in case the power bank isn't returned.
Return the power bank to release it
Once your power bank is returned correctly, Joos immediately initiates the release of the hold. No action is needed on your end.
Funds clear within 1–7 working days
The hold disappears from your account within 1–7 working days, depending on how quickly your bank processes the release.
Good to know: Joos releases the hold on our end right away. The remaining wait time is entirely down to your bank's internal processing speed, and unfortunately this is outside our control.

Frequently Asked Questions
What commercial models are available?
The most common model is user-pays: passengers fund the service, the operator receives a revenue share, and there is no cost or capital commitment. A venue-funded model — free charging for passengers, funded by the operator — is also available. Commercial arrangements are tailored to your site.
What happens if a unit needs servicing?
Joos monitors usage and unit health remotely via a networked connection. If attention is needed, a visit is scheduled in line with the SLA — you don't need to report it.
Is Joos compatible with all phone types?
Yes. Power banks include USB-C, Lightning, and Micro USB cables, and are compatible with all current phone models including iPhone and Android.
Do I need to modify existing electrical infrastructure?
In almost all cases, no. Standard units require a single 13-amp socket. For larger deployments, Joos's technical team will assess the site during the survey and confirm any requirements in advance.
Can the stations be branded with our terminal's identity?
Yes. Units can carry your operator branding alongside Joos livery — including logos, colours, and campaign messaging.
What if a passenger doesn't return the power bank?
Non-returns are managed entirely by Joos. A small fee is applied to the passenger's card after the rental period. The operator is not liable for losses.
What types of events can use Joos?
Joos works across all event types including music festivals, corporate conferences, trade exhibitions, live shows, sporting events, and multi-venue city events.
Does Joos require staff to manage the service?
No. Joos is fully self-service and automated, requiring zero supervision or staff input from your team throughout the event.
Can Joos support large-scale events?
Yes. Joos has powered events with 50,000+ attendees across multiple venues simultaneously, with stations scaled and placed strategically to match your event footprint.
How does portable charging improve the event experience?
Guests with a charged phone stay longer, engage more, share more on social media, and leave with a better overall experience of your event.
